In 1989 Connie Gaxiola started out singing primarily back-up vocals in theEast Bay band “The Stingers”. After making her debut at outdoor festivals she found herself singing lead vocals in R&B/Blues band “The Lowell Grace Project”. This led to more opportunities and she was on her way to fronting several more bands in nightclubs all around the Bay Area. While fronting “Back Street Boogie” she was approached to host her first Karaoke show. This led to what is well known today as “Connioke Karaoke & DJ Productions”. Connie kept busy for years often running karaoke shows during the week and playing with her band on the weekends. It was common for her to do karaoke Friday night and play live with her band Saturday night at the same club. She developed a following and in 1999 she put her vocal talent and song writing ability to use when she teamed up with songwriter/guitarist Gennaro Cannelora and 4 Non Blondes bassist Christa Hillhouse. She went by the stage name “Iris Lujan” while playing with them at nightclubs in San Francisco and the East Bay. Eventually they recorded the CD “sf soul” by “Wax Trio featuring Iris Lujan”. A sweet mix influenced by Pop, Rock, Jazz, Funk and Soul music.
